LEARNING THE BASIC STANCES -- THE FOUNDATION OF KUNGFU

The three basic stances in Southern Shaolin Kungfu are the Horse-Riding Stance, the Bow-Arrow Stance and the False-Leg Stance.

The keynote of stance training is relaxation, not an endurance test.

Start comfortably with just about three minutes, then work up to about 15 minutes for all the three stances. Remember you should be totally relaxed. Don't tense any muscles.

Practice every day for about three months. (You may practice other kungfu aspects during these three months.)
