FLOWING WATER FLOATING CLOUDS AT SAINT PETERSBURG
Of the various styles of Tai Chi Chuan, Chen Style is best known for its combat efficiency. The set practiced here, Flowing Water Floating Clouds, is composed by Grandkaster Wong based on the crystallization of various Chen Style sets.
While Yang Style is the most popularly practiced in the world, Chen Style is the most popularly practiced in China. When Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan was first taught outside China, many people who were used to Yang Style, were surprised to find it resemble Shaolin Kungfu.
The whole set of Flowing Water Floating Clouds is a long series of the flow method to develop internal force. Some course participants find it even more powerful than Iron Wire.
Grandmaster Wong also teaches a proactive strategy to win free sparring against other martial artists. Suitable patterns from this set are chosen to form a combat sequence in pressing attack against opponents, giving them no chance to retaliate. If they succeed in intercepting the sequence and counter-attack, we can respond with a dodge-modify strategy.
