A Shaolin disciple, for example, is trained to be courteous and considerate, brave and righteous, assess problems and situations with calmness and clarity, and attend to duties with zest and loyalty. While the philosophy of many martial arts mainly focuses on how to be stoic and hurt the opponent, Shaolin philosophy teaches gentleness and a love for life. The twin pillars of Shaolin philosophy are compassion and wisdom.

Telling the Story of Sifu Wong Chun Nga's Wedding in Videos:
Chinese Culture on Wedding Ceremonies

Grandmaster Wong wishes to thank all those who attended the wedding celebrations but laments that he didn't spend more time you

Winning the bride's heart is more a battle of wits than a battle of might. So the bridegroom, with the support of his warriors, sings a love song. This isn't enough. He has to demonstrate his willingness to sacrifice for the bride. He drinks an ominous-looking drink, which turns out to be something sweet. This isn't enough. He is given another drink, but a Warrior gallantly drinks it for him, and it turns out to be sweet, sour, bitter and spicy all in one, symbolizing that the bridegroom is willing to go through all difficulties for the bride.

The bride's defenders ask on behalf of the bride what the bridegroom is think of. What else besides, "I love you". The bridegroom also brings some gifts for the bride's defenders, all enclosed in a big red packet. Eventually the bridegroom wins the bride.

Shaolin Wahnam Discussion Forum

Shaolin Discussion Wahnam Forum

If you can forgive someone and they see it as a sign of weakness, then that's their problem not yours. If someone can seriously hurt you and you can genuinely forgive them, then you are a hero.

Compassion and wisdom are some of the highest ideals we hope to acheive in Shaolin Wahnam, forgiveness is a major part of this. We have all being wronged by someone at some point, learning forgiveness will help us in our lives and in our training.
