ALOR STAR, THE STATE CAPITAL OF KEDAH, MALAYSIA 8 JAN 2019
Grandmaster Wong, his wife and his second daughter, Wei Foong, visited Alor Star on 8th Januaray 2019, after traveling an old country road and visiting Kuala Kedah from their house in Sungai Petani. Alor Star is the capital of Kedah, one of the states in Malaysia.
There are many interesting places in Alor Star which are clustered in the main city. One of the most beautiful is Zahir Mosque, the state mosque of Kedah and voted as one of the 10 most beautiful mosques in the world.
They also visited Taman Merdeka, or Independence Park, where Grandmaster Wong ran to with his "1000 Steps" to practice kungfu everyday before his world travels many, many years ago. Taman Merdeka has changed much. Grandmaster Wong and his wife lived in Alor Star for a few years.
They also passed Kwangtung Association by a river which runs through the city of Alor Star, where Grandmaster Wong practiced some weapons many mornings. A promenade is now built in front of the association; the promenade was not there when Grandmaster Wong practiced his weapons.
