kungfu combat

Intellectualization can be good, but it is bad when over-done. It is also bad when practicing an internal art, like chi kung or neigong, where intellectualization will negate the result of the practice.

I remember my father telling me when I first practiced kungfu from Uncle Righteousness more than 60 years ago, that people in China spent a long time, sometimes 2 years, just practicing the Horse-Riding Stance.

There are certain requirements in our school to become a certified instructor. Being a good practitioner in the art he teaches is a second requirement. The first requirement is to be of good character. A practical way to attain this requirement is to practice our Ten Shaolin Laws.

August 2018 (Part 1)

You need to practice only once a day for about 10 minutes. If you enjoy your practice, as most students in our school do, or you think that 10 minutes is not enough, you can practice for another session of 10 minutes, but the two sessions must be far apart so that there is sufficient time for your body to adjust to the tremendous energy you have generated in your practice. If your two sessions are too close, you may over-train.

Lifting the Sky

Practicing genuine, high-level chi kung can overcome any illness. Many people may find it hard to believe, but it is true. Many people had suffered from so-called incurable diseases like cancer, heart disorders, diabetes and arthritis, and recovered after practicing chi kung learnt from me. Indeed, as early as 1997, I was awarded "Chi Kung Master of the Year" because I helped many people overcome so-called incurable diseases.

chi kung

Many people are puzzled by heart-to-teart transmission. The highest Shaolin arts, for example, are transmitted from masters to students. It is the transmission of skills from the heart of a master to the heart of a student. It is not just instructions, or even teaching.

Shaolin Monastery

The Chinese government has done a great job restoring the Shaolin Temple and teaching kungfu, which is called "wushu" in Chinese. However, the government emphasizes the demonstrative aspect of wushu. Combat application, internal force and spiritual cultivation, which were the hallmarks of good Shaolin Kungfu, are not taught.

Mental Clarity

Many students have asked me to teach sitting meditation. I decline because of a very significant reason. By practicing standing meditation, we have results that people practicing sitting meditation hope to attain. Not only we have results faster, standing meditation is much safer than sitting meditation.

chi kung, qigong

In my many years of teaching and healing, for which I was awarded "Qigong Master of the Year" 20 years ago in 1997 at the 2nd Word Qigong (Chi Kung) Congress in San Francisco, I have discovered that cancer as well as many so-called incurable diseases are caused by emotions. Most people may not know this, nor trace the source of their disturbing emotions.

Once I went to see my Wing Choon sifu, Sifu Choe Hoong Choy, in Penang. He was practicing Siu Lin Tou slowly, like Taijiquan as he told me afterwards. He then showed me how to use Siu Lin Tou to develop internal force. It was powerful.

Chi kung, qigong

Using the same chi kung exercises to overcome a variaty of illness is not sensible in the Western medical paradigm, but in the Chinese medical paradigm it is reasonable and scientific.

chi kung, qigong

I have tried to impressed upon the public this concept that Western medicine, which most people accept nowadays, can benefit much from traditional Chinese medicine without any financial loss. Indeed, with the technological advance of Western medicine today, the world will benefit much and Western medical practitioners will gain a lot of prestige if they study and apply the empirical knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine without forgoing their training and practice.
