BASIC TAIJIQUAN MOVEMENT AND FOOTWORK
Taijiquan is well known for a weaker and smaller exponent against a stronger and bigger opponent. Two factors are responsible. One is internal force and the other is Taijiquan mechanics.
Internal force is developed in stance training as well as in flowing Taijiquan movements. Taijiquan mechanics is expressed in starting with the back leg, rotating the waist and ending in the hands.
Another important Taijiquan principle which contributes to the smaller against the bigger is that there is no beginning and no ending. Both these Taijiquan principles are well illustrated in the video below.
