PRACTICING "SIU LIN TOU" OR "LITTLE PRACTICE BEGINNING" WITHOUT MUSCULAR STRENGTH
"Siu Lin Tou" is the fundamental set in Wing Choon Kungfu.
Once I asked my Wing Choon master, Sifu Choe Hoong Choy, why our set was called "Siu Lin Tou" whereas many other people called their fundamental set "Siu Lim Tou" (please note the difference between "Lin" and "Lim").
He explained that "Siu Lin Tou" meant "Little Practice Beginning", which was what Yim Wing Choon, the founder of Wing Choon Kungfu, did at the start of her training.
Besides providing Wing Choon techniques, the set also trained internal force. Tensing ones muscles would stop the flow of chi, or energy, which is essential for the development of internal force.
You should practice the set daily for at lease 3 months.
