CHIEK SAU OR CUTTING HAND FOR SIDE ATTACKS

Grnadmaster Wong uses Than Sau to defend against Molly's Chiek Sau
An effective side attack is Chiek Sau, or Cutting Hand, which may be applied from out-gate or in-gate. Good response are Than Sau, or Mirror Handm and Kham Sau, or Covering Hand. Please note that Than Sau here is not a direct block, which would result in using force against force, but a deflecting move using waist rotation and minimum force against maximun strength. Some ad-hoc moves like turning the head or bending back may be necessary if the side-attack is too close or fast.
