Grandmaster Wong demonstraates the Cottom Palm technique on Sifu Nicolas Jones

An interesting kungfu feature which is often heard but little understood is the Cotton Palm. In the Eighteen-Collection Set Mien Shen's "Cotton Palm" is found in the pattern "Double Covers Palm Strike". It is used to distract an opponent as well as to immobilize him while we attack. Another feature with similar functions is Zhang En's "Close and Cover", which is found in the pattern "Distract-Trick Chop Waist".
