I remember my sifu telling me that someone who learned Taekwondo, as Taekwondo was popular at that time, might have got a black belt.

How does one develop Chi Sau, or Sticking Hands, on his own when he needs a partner? He can imagine an imaginary partner. At first he imagine him attacking him in certain ways. Later he just responds accordingly. Eventually he can imagine he is so sensitive that he can readily respond at any time.

If a person is distracted, he will do better if he is focused. If he is tensed, he will do better if he is relaxed. If he has no internal force, he will do better when he has internal force. If he has no mental clarity, he will do better when he has mental clarity. You have all these -- being focused, being relaxed, have internal force and have mental clarity.

She told me that as long as she practiced her chi kung, she would live. At first I thought it was poetic. Much later I knew it is factual -- as long as there is chi, there is life, irrespective of whether it is an infinitesimal one-cell microorganism or an infinite star.

Regarding the "qi hai" energy point, some people speak of it as the lower dan tian, and some people speak of it as the middle dan tian. "Dan tian" means energy field. It is where energy, or "qi", gathers. There are many dan tian in the body.
