Shaolin Chin-Na Set 2
GRAND LORD CATCHES FISH
太公釣魚拳
The 72 sequences of the Shaolin chin-na techniques are linked together to form 7 sets, with 10 sequences for each set, except the last set which has 12 sequences. This is the second set, Grand Lord Catches Fish.
Grand Lord, whose real name was Jiang Zi Ya, was a great strategist. He had a unique way of catching fish. His fish-hook was straight. His intention was not to catch fish but to wait for Emperor Wen.
Grand Lord helped Emperor Wen to found the Zhou Dynasty, the longest dynasty of China. Divine beings were involved in the campaigns to overthrow the last and cruel Shang emperor.
Grand Lord was instructed by heaven to award divine rewards to those who established the Zhou Dynasty, but he forgot to award himself until the end where only one reward, "The Rock with Courage to Face Anything", was left. Hence, now the saying, "Grand Lord awards gods" or "tai gong fong shen" in Chinese, is used to describe those who forget to reward themselves.
The video below shows the second chin-na set, Grand Lord Catches Fish.
