SIMPLE BAGUAZHANG TECHNIQUE AGAINST KICKS

The video below shows a simple Baguazhang technique against a sweeping kick and also against an organ-seeking kick. The basic philosophy is to step slightly behind to avoid the kick and brush away the kicking leg.

If it is a sweeping kick, your brushing movement must follow the movement of the sweeping kick. Never go against the sweeping kick; you may break your arm.

Practice the movements slowly at first. Gradually increase the speed and power. Later you may respond to other ways of kicking, like a thrust kick or a side kick. You should spend at least 1 month for your practice.
