FROM PRE-ARRANGED TO CONDITIONAL FREE SPARRING USING JABS AND CROSSES

Taijiquan, Tai Chi Chuan

After some concerted training, course participants can respond correctly and spontaneosuly to a Boxer's attacks

Students progress form countering at Point 2 to countering at Point 1. Next, responders can choose to counter at any point. Then initiators may vary the sequence of their attacks. Hence, the sparring is not pre-arranged, but it is not completely free as the attacks are limited to only jabs and crosses. We call it conditional free sparring. It is heartening to note that the course participants can respond correctly and spontaneously.
