MY SIFU
Joel Udoh
The following poem is dedicated to my sifu, Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit.
My life was lost devoid of meaning
My purpose gone and will was waning
I looked for hope and found new meaning
In books of wisdom and wise teaching
You showed me a path that had direction
A timely hand with divine intention
My spirit, mind and body resurrected
My thoughts of gloom halted, ended
Then echoing through time the voice of the dharma
Transmitted through you in words of Karma
That told of heavens and realms of splendour
But taught of enlightenment beyond whats 'real'
To transcend mundane and witness the all
To overcome desire and ponder no longer
Cycles of birth and death to endure
To end Samsara and reach the shore yonder
Gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha
New methods learnt from Pureland practice
Bring to life Buddhas and Bodhisattvas
To witness my effort and guide my steps
You wei to wu wei the Wahnam way
And so I thank you Sifu, my teacher my guide
And vow from this day to honour 'The Way'
One day I promise, you'll look on this student with pride.
