THE TACTIC OF NO DEFENCE DIRECT COUNTER
As an opponent attacks, you sink back on your stance and simultaneously chop at his attacking arm. This is the tactic of "pat chiew yi ta" ("bu zhao er da" in Mandarin) meaning "no defence direct counter". If he moves his arm away, follow up immediately with a horizontal chop at his neck, at the same time taking care of his hand. These techniques, executed in the patterns "Attend Conference with Single Knife" and "Horizontally Sweeping Thousand Armies", are found in Combat Sequence 8. There are, of course, many interesting counters.
