FOR A CHILD
For a Child
-
Seen you the evening sky
What spell the sky can show
The heaven patched with red
And orange, blue and gold
Oh what a lovely sight
The clouds, a richly scene
But pity, they fade too soon
As beauties have always been
How soft and quiet is
The night when gently falls
As soft and gentle as
The wool in knitting balls
The silver moon sails up
Accompanied by the stars
The playmates of the queen
They twinkle wide and far
The moonlight skims over the sleeping woods
And settles on glow-flies, green and blue
She kisses the face of the gleaming grass
As fairies dance in their twinkling shoes
Ssshh ... what a calm the magic music brings
Sweet smoothing music as the fairies sing
You will feel rich and want no more
How great has Nature kept for you in store
