As I cycled leisurely to school
An evening breeze blew sweet and cool
Angsana flowers floated in the sky
Golden showers on passers-by
The shady road was cool and clean
With giant guards and their hanging green
The beauty of nature began to unfold
Welcoming children with carpets of gold
1st September 1973, Kuala Trengganu
(Written after being inspired by seeing golden shower flowers in a book, making me recall reminiscently the golden shower of the angsana trees along Perak Road on my way to Penang Free School)
