THE CRUCIAL LAST STEP IN MOVING IN

Shaolin Kung Fu

As you move in to attack, ensure that your body weight is on your back leg so that you can retreat readily in case of a surprised counter

If you wish to initiate an attack, the onus is on you to space yourself favorably. You may move in with half a step, one step, one and a half step, or any number of steps. But you must ask the way. Irrespective of the number of steps you choose to move into an opponent, the last step is crucial. You should have your body weight at the back leg so that it is easy for you to retreat if needed.
