Amongst other benefits, understanding the relevant philosophy enables us to achieve maximum results with minimum effort.
It also helps us to realize the principle of “yiet lei thong, pa lei meng” (Cantonese pronunciation) or “having traveled the first mile, you will be able to travel hundreds of miles”, a principle my sifu, Sifu Ho Fatt Nam, often emphasized, and which has enabled me to understand the application of kungfu techniques even though I have not learned them before.
