Important Praying Mantis techniques are hook hand, slang body and hanging fist.

Please note that the hook hand shown in the video below is to hook a kicking leg, which is different from the hook hand to hook an attacking punch as shown here.

Alternatively, you may slant your body back, without moving your feet, to avoid an opponent's kick. Immediately, irrespective of whether you use hook hand or slanting body, follow up with a hanging fist.

Practice the sequences shown in the video slowly at first, gradually increasing speed and power. Practice for at least 3 months before using the responses in combat. You will be surprised how easily you can defeat your opponents of similar levels when they want to kick at you.
