July 2015 (Part 1)

chi kung, qigong

Our view of chi kung is quite different from that of most chi kung practitioners in China. We consider what they practice as gentle physical exercise, and not chi kung. Chi kung is an art of energy, but what most practitioners today in China do is to work on their physical body, like loosening joints and muscles, and not on their energy.

Shaolin Kungfu

Not many people know these two facts -- that Yang Lu Chan was already well trained in Shaolin Kungfu before he worked as a servant in Chen Zhang Qing's family, and that Shaolin Kungfu prepared well for him, or any person, to learn any other art. Many people thought that Yang Lu Chan started straight away with Tai Chi Chuan. Many people did not know that all that was found in Tai Chi Chuan was already found in Shaolin Kungfu.

Ng Long Pat Kua Kuen

It is important to note that being blessed and guided by divine beings is very different from being controlled or taken over by another being, divine or otherwise. Being blessed and guided by divine beings is a great blessing. Being controlled or taken over by another being is a great deviation. We are in conscious control of ourselves all the time, even when being blessed or guided by divine beings.

Colorful India

Our past always remains with us, no matter how successful we may be in the present. But you don't have to recall it. If it returns to you on its own, just breathe it away, like you breathe out stale air, if you do not want it. Or, occasionally if you like, you can indulge in some nostalgia but without letting it bothers you.

Shooting Arrow

For convenience we shall call the way performed in "Shooting Arrows" the chi kung way, and that in "One Finger Stabilizing Empire" the kungfu way.

Fierce Tiger Presents Claws

Most people, including many masters, think that by practicing the right technique they can get the desired result. In my earlier years, I thought in this way too.

Bone Marrow Cleansing

It is not necessary for you to train with me for a long period of time. You just have to attend the Intensive Chi Kung Course for three days. But it is important that you need to continue to practice on your own.

Our Three Golden Rules of Practice are actually simple. They are as follows.

Deserving Students

Whether he believes in the many testimonials is his right, but to me it is insulting. I don't need to invent testimonials to trick people to seek healing from me. In fact I don't like healing, but I do so as a duty. That was one main reason why now I do not offer personalized healing course even some people offer to pay me a lot of money -- much, much more, I believe, than what your father could dream to pay me.

Bone-Marrow Cleansing

Past masters did not differentiate between techniques and skills, whereas we do. They practiced any techniques they were taught when they were students. When conditions were ideal, they developed the necessary skills, often without their conscious knowing.

My Grandchildren

To me, women equality means that women are not inferior to men, but it does not mean that they should be treated as if they were men.

I am very happy that many students of our schools, male and female, have explicitly stated that our training has made them the best persons they can be.

Tribute to Sifu

It is very important to realize that being an instructor in our school is like being a father to your students, and to preserve our arts for posterity by passing on to your students our arts so that they too will get the wonderful benefits we enjoy, like good health, vitality, longevity, mental clarity, peak performance and spiritual joys.

The great bodhidharma

My courses, including regional ones, are intensive. My intensive courses in Malaysia are very intensive. Course participants learn in a few days whet they would learn in a year or more in regular classes. Most other students in other schools will never learn what our students will learn, no matter for how long they may train.

Shalin chin-na

Chin-na is found in Tai Chi Chuan but most people may not realize it. The whole of "Grasping Sparrow's Tail", for example, can be used for chin-na.
