LEARNING THE SPEAR SET IN JUST TWO DAYS

Traveling Dragon Thirteen-Technique Spear

Course participants performing the spear set after learning it in just one day

Some critics accuse our instructors of becoming instructors after only a few years of learning from Grandmaster Wong. We should take this as a compliment, as it shows the cost-efficiency of our teaching.

The critics measure progress by the length of time one has spent on the art, whereas we measure progress by his attainment. Actually many of our instructors have spent many years with other masters before they learned from Grandmaster Wong, but they found they benefited more in one year in Shaolin Wahnam than many years elsewhere.

Learning the Traveling Dragon Thirteen-Technique Spear is a good example. Most other people would need a few months to learn the set, but the course participants learned it in just two days! Moe importantly, they attain more in two days than many others do in a few months. For example, they know about six harmonies in their performance, are not tired after performing the set, and are able to apply the spear for combat, whereas most others just know how to perform the patterns in a correct sequence of the set.

Nevertheless, learning the set in two days does not mean we are already proficient with the spear. We have to practice consistently to master the necessary skills.

A picture-series and a video series of the set can be found here and here respectively.

“Traveling Li-Hua Shakes Head

After making flowers, the class continues with the patterns of the set, including a deadly pattern called “Li-Hua Shakes Head.” Li-Hua was the name of a lady general famous for the spear. This pattern, however is not shown in this picture series.

“Traveling Green Dragon Spreads Tail

This video clip shows the concluding patterns of the Traveling Dragon Spear Set. “Green Dragon Spreads Tail”, where the end of the shaft instead of the spear-head is used, is a merciful technique, though an exponent with internal force can cause serious injury, whereas “Green Dragon Shoots Pearl” is deadly.

“Traveling Learning the Spear Set in Just Two Days

The video shows participants practicing the Traveling Dragon Spear Set on their own. It is unbelievable but true that they learn the set in just two days.

“Traveling The Secret of Learning a Weapon Set in Shortest Time

Why are the course participants able to learn a weapon set in just one day with reasonable good performance when most other people may take a few months? The secret lies in the basics. The participants have spent much time training the basics of the spear. Once you know th basics well, learning the set is a matter of linking the patterns together. It is like typing. Once you can type well, typing any documents is like linking words together.

“Traveling Letting the Patterns Flow Naturally

Even if the participants can learn the set in two days, how do they remember the correct sequence of the patterns. The secret lies in chi flow. The participants let the patterns flow naturally.

“Traveling Enjoying the Training

Another important secret why the participants can learn quite fast and perform quite well is that they enjoy the training. The training is not a chore; it is fun. If you can transfer the same principle in daily life, you will be very cost-efficient in your daily work as you will find it not a chore but fun.

“Traveling Enjoying Chi Flow after Performing the Set

After performing the set, the participants go into chi flow. This is the secret why they are not tired. They let the chi perform the set for them!
